I do computer stuff... to keep it short and simple, I mainly work on messaging infrastructure on the enterprise level... but on the side I install and secure small business and home networks, fix computers, and anything like that.... so if Gamer is booked up, you can get ahold of me. Smile

I also ride... so if there are any others with a motorcycle, let's ride!

Hey Travis,
When you mention enterprise messaging, does that mean you work with MS Exchange? I frequently have problems with mine at work and have never been able to find someone who really gets it. Go ahead, ask me why I have exchange without a knowledgable IT department...

What sort of trouble to do you have? Ask away and I'll do my best to help.

Well, when I set it up it seemed like the best option for email, but now I realize that it is really not the right application since I only have 5 or 6 email users. I am not currently having any trouble, but I recently went through a big mess trying to get exchange activesync to work with my smartphone. I got that working now, but at this point I really wonder if there is a seamless way to get out of this mess without losing all of our mailboxes and data. On the other hand, I really like the calendar and other outlook features that I can stay connected to with exchange activesync. Don''t know if there is another way to do that without exchange.

What version of Exchange are you guys running?

I run a Blackberry Enterprise Server for mobile messaging... we don't mess with activesync.

Like I mentioned, we use Blackberries, which are great for mobile messaging, but requires Exchange (so that won't help) if you're wanting your corporate mail to be synched up with the device. You can also set up the Blackberries to use an internet service instead of Exchange, but I don't believe that would meet your business needs.

Again, not knowing anything about your company... have you looked into any Open Source solutions?

Here's one that looks like it would work great for you guys, Scalix... the server will run on Linux, but it's fully compatible with Outlook, so you wouldn't have to change your client desktops. It also supports mobility.

Scalix home - http://www.scalix.com/enterprise/

Outlook support - http://www.scalix.com/enterprise/products/outlook.php

Anyway, hope this helps.
